Is Timken Belts now part of Gates?
Yes, as of September 28, 2026, Gates has completed the acquisition of the belts business of The Timken Company.
Will the belts still fit my existing drive?

How do I find the right Gates part number?
Search NaviGates by your existing part number (Gates or competitor) or by belt size to find the correct Gates equivalent, then order through your authorized Gates distributor. If you are an authorized Gates distributor, or interested in becoming one, contact a Gates sales representative.
Will the Ultimax and Timken belt brands still exist?
The Ultimax and Timken belt products are being integrated into the Gates portfolio. Over time, these products will transition to Gates branding, with equivalent Gates products replacing the Timken and Ultimax lines. The products you rely on will continue to be available under the Gates name, so you’ll have a clear cross-reference to the corresponding Gates part.
How do Gates belts compare to Timken belts?
Gates offers a comprehensive belt lineup engineered to meet or exceed the performance of the Timken belts they replace. For most Timken belts part numbers, there is a Gates equivalent designed for the same application, fit, and duty. Use the Gates cross-reference tool and search NaviGates by your existing part number or contact a Gates sales representative to identify the direct Gates replacement for any Timken belt.
When will the change to Gates brand occur?
The change to Gates branding will occur on a phased basis as products are integrated into the Gates portfolio. Timken and Ultimax belts remain available through Gates during the transition until inventory is exhausted, and equivalent Gates products will be introduced with clear cross-references so customers can identify the right Gates part.
